Our Intercessor
God on Monday
Read previous
‘He is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them’ (Hebrews 7.25).
Reflection
In today’s driven culture, with its ever-increasing demands, work can feel relentless. In this context, the promise in the above verse that Jesus ‘always lives to make intercession’ for us is deeply comforting.
The writer of the letter to the Hebrews seems to be saying that Jesus is not a distant figure who watches us struggle. Instead, by actively interceding on our behalf, he is always available to us, constantly pleading and advocating for us before our loving heavenly father amid our daily challenges.
This truth can reshape how we approach our work. Knowing that we are not alone and that Christ himself stands in the gap for us can change how we face the pressures of work. We no longer need to rely on our strength or ingenuity. Whether we are dealing with difficult coworkers, tight deadlines, or feeling inadequate in our roles, Jesus’ intercession for us means that we have access to divine strength, guidance and grace.
These heavenly blessings, brought to us in our daily lives through Christ as our intercessor, help us to see how our work can become part of our worship. We also find that our tasks, no matter how mundane or stressful, are made lighter through the knowledge that Jesus is praying for us and empowering us.
Response
As you navigate your work this week, remind yourself that Jesus is interceding for you. Let that truth give you the courage to approach your tasks with renewed energy and faith, knowing that God is deeply invested in your well-being and in the flourishing of your work.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for always interceding for me. Help me to see my work as an opportunity to reflect your grace, knowing that I am never alone in my efforts. Give me the strength to persevere and the wisdom to rely on you in every challenge. Amen.
