Trustee and Chair of Faith in Business
Faith in Business are seeking to appoint up to 3 new Trustees, one of whom may be elected as our Chair. This is an exciting opportunity to take forward the Vision and work of Faith in Business, working with congenial colleagues and providing service to the Faith in Business community - a stimulating, inspiring and warm-hearted group of people. The Trustees' role is voluntary.
If you think you may be interested in becoming our next Trustee, we encourage you to send Dawn Stallwood a CV, indication of relevant experience, and a statement of what Faith in Business means to you. Our closing date for applications is 31 August 2023.
Trustee Responsibilities
Our Trustees are responsible for the governance of Faith in Business. These responsibilities, as with every charity, are to:
-
Ensure the organisation is carrying out its stated purpose for the public benefit
-
Comply with the law
-
Act in the charity’s best interests
-
Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
-
Act with reasonable care and skill
-
Ensure that the charity is accountable (and in the case of Faith in Business, ultimately accountable to God).
Day-to-day, under the overall leadership of the Chair, the Trustees are custodians of the
Vision of Faith in Business and so exercise oversight of all activities of Faith in Business. This is achieved by:
-
Attending and being active contributors to our quarterly Trustee meetings, to review our finances, strategy and current activities
-
Leading or participating in one or more sub-committees, normally in an area of expertise of the Trustee
-
Participating in Faith and Business events and utilising our resources
-
Promoting Faith in Business, its events and resources to your networks and churches
-
Identifying potential areas of funding by introducing potential supporters or sourcing possible grant applications
Additional Responsibilities of the Chair of Faith in Business
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Chair’s duties are to:
-
Chair meetings of the Executive Team and Trustees, who sometimes meet together and sometimes separately. Prepare agenda for meetings; check first draft of minutes; follow up on decisions made as appropriate.
-
Coordinate work of the Executive Team and Trustees, encouraging and consulting with individual members.
-
Submit or check grant applications for funding and thank Partners of Faith in Business for their financial support.
-
Oversee the work of the Director and sign off their payments.
-
Collaborate with Trustee Secretary over governance matters and TAR (Trustees Annual Report); sign off accounts sent to Charity Commission; write part of Report detailing Faith in Business activities in past year.
Person Characteristics
Our Trustees are
